• Observing the structure of the macroeconomy

Data Sources

All tables and figures presented on this site are generated from publicly available macroeconomic datasets. The data are stored in a structured database constructed for this project in order to ensure consistency across episodes.

Primary sources include:

  • World Bank — World Development Indicators (WDI)
  • OECD national accounts and labor statistics
  • International Labour Organization (ILO) — ILOSTAT database
  • Other public macroeconomic datasets where noted

Different sources are used depending on the structure of the variable being examined. For example, age-disaggregated labor force participation rates are obtained from ILOSTAT, which provides consistent labor market breakdowns across countries.

The indicators are stored in a harmonized format so that tables and figures can be reproduced consistently throughout the series. Individual episodes cite the original dataset and indicator code where relevant.

This structure allows figures and tables to be generated consistently while preserving full traceability to the original public data sources.
